Frequently Asked Questions
Will copper jewelry turn my skin green?
The short answer: It can, but it depends on the wearer and other factors. For example, I wear my copper cuff daily and rarely experience green residue. This green tint results from copper oxidation, often triggered by sweat or an acidic bodily environment, which may be influenced by diet or other health factors. Interestingly, this discoloration can act as a natural health indicator, offering insight into your body's chemistry.
While the green residue is harmless and can be easily washed off with soap and water, some individuals prefer to take preventive measures. Here are some tips to minimize discoloration:
Protective Coatings: Applying a clear coating, like nail polish or jewelry lacquer, to the inner surface of the jewelry can prevent direct contact with the skin. However, this also reduces the potential health benefits of wearing copper, such as absorbing trace elements.
Regular Cleaning: Cleaning your copper jewelry with mild soap and water helps remove sweat and oils, reducing the oxidation process. Read more about cleaning copper jewelry here.
Dry Storage: Store your copper jewelry in a dry, moisture-free environment when not in use to slow down oxidation
.Keep in mind that copper's natural oxidation process is what gives it its unique patina over time.
Does copper tarnish over time?
Yes, copper naturally tarnishes over time due to exposure to air, moisture, and oils from your skin. This tarnish appears as a darkening or patina on the surface, which many people find adds character to their jewelry. If you prefer to keep your copper pieces bright and shiny, regular cleaning will help maintain their original luster.

Is your jewelry hypoallergenic?
I strive to make jewelry that’s as comfortable and wearable as it is beautiful! Here’s what you should know:
Copper Jewelry: I use coated copper ear hooks that won’t tarnish and are designed to minimize irritation for most wearers. If you have specific concerns about skin sensitivity, I’m happy to coat other copper pieces upon request for added protection.
Silver Jewelry: All of my silver pieces are crafted with .925 sterling silver, a standard for high-quality, hypoallergenic jewelry.
If you have sensitive skin or specific allergies, feel free to reach out with any questions or requests. I’ll do my best to accommodate your needs!
Can copper jewelry help with arthritis or joint pain?
Copper has been used for centuries for its believed healing properties, and many people wear copper jewelry to help alleviate arthritis or joint pain. The idea is that wearing copper allows trace amounts of the mineral to be absorbed through the skin, potentially aiding with inflammation and improving joint health.
While some wearers report relief, it’s important to note that scientific evidence supporting these claims is limited. The effectiveness often depends on the individual, and results may vary.
Can I shower or swim with my jewelry?
It’s best to avoid showering or swimming with your jewelry. Water, especially from pools or the ocean, can speed up tarnishing and potentially damage certain finishes or coatings. Soap, chlorine, and salt water can dull metals and stones, so removing your jewelry before bathing, swimming, or exercising is recommended to keep it looking its best.
Can you size a ring to fit me?
Unfortunately, I don't resize my rings. Each piece is unique and crafted to a specific size. However, if you love a particular style but need a different size, I can create a similar piece for you! Feel free to reach out, and I would be happy to design something tailored to your needs.
How do I find my ring size?
To find your ring size:
Measure at Home: Use a flexible measuring tape or a strip of paper to wrap around your finger, then measure the length and match it to a ring size chart.
Visit a Jeweler: For the most accurate measurement, visit a local jeweler to have your finger sized.
Order a Sizer: Ring sizers are inexpensive tools you can order online for easy sizing at home.
Keep in mind that fingers can swell slightly due to heat or time of day, so measure when your hands are at a neutral temperature. If you’re between sizes, I recommend sizing up for comfort.
